The Complete Guide to Goal-Setting

Goal-Setting:

We often want to make changes in our life, but we sometimes don’t know where to start. Goal setting can help you to identify where you want to go and the steps needed to get there. The 3 basic steps of goal setting are formulate, set, and make progress toward goals. Setting a goal is a skill that will help you achieve your dreams. Only by setting and meeting realistic goals can you become the happy, successful person you were meant to be. Don’t continue to make the same mistakes you’ve made in the past. Instead of failing to live out your dreams, exceed your own expectations with the tools provided in this guide.

Identify your goal:

 Where are you now?

When reading the introduction above, you might have been taken aback by the mention of dreams. Maybe you’ve been encouraged to dismiss your dreams. Perchance you think that you no longer have any. However, the truth is that we all have dreams. Dreams have a habit of sticking with people, even if they think they discarded them long ago. While some people are surrounded by people who believe in their dreams, others are surrounded by their family and friends who see their dreams in a negative way. They are constantly discouraged and told that their dreams are not realistic, or will never happen. Sometimes, they may be told to “grow up”, as if they are having a childish dream. If you are surrounded by similar pears this is a baleful mindset that you need to reject right now.

Evaluate yourself:

Take a sheet and write down the answer for the following questions.
1. Where are you right now in your life?
2. What are your true dreams?
3. Are you making steady progress toward them?
4. Are you happy with what you’re doing and how you spend your daily life?
5. What steps need to be taken in order to fulfil your dreams?

Types of goals:

Short-term goals (for example, things you would like to work on over the next couple of weeks or months),
Medium-term goals(for example, things you would like to be able to do in six months or a year from now),
Long-term goals (for example, things you are hoping to accomplish in your life-time).

Goals can be related to a variety of life areas such as:
1.    Relationships (Friends and Family)
2.    Career/School
3.    Finances
4.    Health
5.    Lifestyle
6.    Personal Development

Realistic thoughts:

Many may say that "Make sure that your goals are realistic and attainable. If you set your goals too high, it will be too difficult to accomplish them and your motivation will drop". But in this big world nothing is impossible. There is a simple way called MIND-MAP. Lets discuss about it later.
So think about your goal and Google about your goal needs. Break goals into smaller steps. Many goals can be broken down into smaller steps. This is especially true of medium and long-term goals.

Schedule your goals:

You are more likely to complete your goals if you are clear about what you are going to do and when you plan to do it. For this you can use your Google calendars or to-do list (weekly or monthly).here is the to-do list designed by us (CodeFruty)."http://codefruty.blogspot.in/2017/12/designed-todo-list.html"Now that you have picked a goal, you need to start taking the necessary steps to follow through with it. However, it can be hard to get started. In addition to writing down your goal to be done today. As you complete goals, check them off in your list. This can be a helpful reminder of all that you have accomplished so far.

Tips:

Start Small - Making small changes can have a big impact on your life. Don’t try to do everything all at once. Instead, pick one or two goals to work on at a time.
Be Patient - It can take time to meet goals, especially long-term goals. Hang in there and stick with it!
Don’t think in “all or nothing” terms. No one completes all of their goals all of the time. You have not failed if you don’t accomplish all of your goals. Praise yourself for the goals you were able to meet and come up with a new plan for accomplishing the goals that you were unable to complete.
